OKEHAMPTON squash first team had their final game last week when they hosted Riverside in a crucial match for possible promotion to the second division. So a win was a must.
Steve Yeo played a solid game to win his match 3-1. Andy Glossop played an excellent match with long hard rallies just losing 3-2, 10-9 in the fifth. Donald Rooke played another long match again with some long rallies losing 3-2.
Martin Leyton had a relatively easy match playing some excellent touch and control to beat his opponent 3-1. Rob Barkwell needed to win. He lost the first game but never looked back from that point and played some nice squash keeping his opponent on the run to win 3-1.
This gave Okehampton an excellent victory gaining a valuable 18 points to 9. The club now have to wait to see if this was sufficient to gain promotion.
