Devon Festival Semi Finalists TAVISTOCK U12s played four games of hard intense rugby on Sunday at the Devon festival hosted by Kingsbridge RFC. The heroic squad won all three of their pool games. First beating Collumpton 5-0 then Exeter Saracens 10-0 and lastly Plymstock 5-0. Their prize was a semi-final played against old rivals Devonport Services ? the only team to break the Tavistock defence and win by just the one try 5-0. Captain Barnaby Frost led his team by example and concluded with the winning try against Plymstock to win the group. Scrum half Philip Snell scored two of his signature blind side runs first against Collumpton and again to punish Saracens. All the forwards fought hard to secure ball throughout the tournament, none more than second row Daniel Oner who picked up from close range to score the second against Saracens. First class tackling from Callum Thompson featured in Tavistock?s solid defence and the nifty footwork of full back Rufus Gould starred in many counter attacks. Elliott Northmore?s versatility to play in different positions was invaluable to the ever changing tournament situations. Devonport Services were beaten in the final by Exmouth a reverse of last years result.
