Devon Cup 2ND Round NorthOkes U13s 3 Tavistock U13s 0 FROM the start NorthOkes played textbook rugby which took them deep into their opponents territory. At the first scrum NorthOkes moved the ball quickly to Duncan Carter on the wing who was brought down just short by some tremendous Tavistock tackling. Minutes later Jamie Hignett after a 25 metre dash along the touchline was also bundled into touch a metre short of the line. This set the tone for the first half with NorthOkes launching one attack after another through both backs and forwards. Tavistock on the back foot tried everything to break out of defence, however outstanding tackling maintained the pressure on the Tavy line. In the second half NorthOkes swiftly moved into the opponents? half where good forward drives led by Knott and excellent lineout possession through the throwing of Pyle and the two-handed catching of Humphrey?s led to increased pressure on their opponents? line. Tavistock scrum infringed on the 22metre line but Searle just missed the kick which would have given NorthOkes their deserved lead. Minutes later Searle superbly slotted the penalty between the posts. This set up an incredible last few minutes where Tavistock threw everything at NorthOkes. A series of penalties near their line brought out the best in this NorthOkes team with both backs and forwards cutting down wave after wave of Tavistock attacks before the ref blew the final whistle to what was a tremendous victory. This was an incredible game of rugby with exceptional skill displayed by both sides. Training 6pm at North Tawton. Sunday Okehampton are at home to Barnstaple.
