North Tawton 2nds 2 Culmstock 2 (North Tawton won 3-1 on penalties) THIS was a cup match which North Tawton should have won quite comfortably, having created by far the most opportunities. Culmstock took the lead after 30 minutes with a long range free kick which the Tawton goalkeeper misjudged. Having wasted several chances the home team went in at half time trailing 1-0. The second half started with North Tawton still wasting opportunities. After 70 minutes of frustrating football North Tawton?s manager made all three substitutions. This had an immediate affect with sub number one, Darren Trick, playing at full back, passing the ball on to sub number two, Tony Fisher, who cut the ball across the goalmouth for sub number three, Luke Compton, to side-foot into the back of the net with his first touch of the game. North Tawton threatened to win the game in the remaining 20 minutes but the visitors somehow managed to hang on, forcing the game into extra time. Stewart Bragg beat the offside trap and thumped the ball home in the first few minutes of extra time. With only a few minutes remaining Culmstock managed to equalise. This led to a penalty shoot out. Rob Reid, the Tawton keeper, saved Culmstock?s first, with two other Culmstock players blazing the ball over the cross bar. North Tawton?s penalty scorers were Stuart McCellenay-Paddon, Lloyd Reynolds and Joe Ridge, with Tony Fisher being the only Tawton player to miss the target. Tawton won the penalty shoot out 3-1. Man of the match, Lloyd Reynolds.
