BUDDING young film makers in the Princetown and Postbridge areas have the chance to learn industry skills through a new club funded by the People’s Health Trust.
The Moor Film Club has been set up by MED Theatre with funding from the trust using money raised by HealthContact through the Health Lottery.
Fortnightly sessions will be held for seven to 13-year-olds in Princetown School on Wednesday evenings.
The club is free and open to children from the central Dartmoor area interested in learning about film-making, from camera operation to acting, screenwriting, directing, sound directing and more. The project will run for two years and members will have the chance to create their own films, including location on shoots on Dartmoor.
MED Theatre works with young people and community members from the Dartmoor area facilitating projects in drama, film and dance.
MED Theatre’s artistic director Mark Beeson said: ‘This grant will allow us to offer film making opportunities for children in a very remote rural area over an extended period and widens the choice of after school activities that are available to them.’
