THREE goals down in the first half, Okehampton staged a remarkable recovery and came so close to stealing a point from one of the league pace-setters.
Argyle sent central defender James Williams to the front, played five across midfield with three defenders, in their search for more goals, but the changes were undone after 20 minutes as Central scored twice. Okehampton were to concede another goal just before the break.
Soby took over from Griffiths at half-time, won balls in the air and tackles on the ground. This assisted Okehampton to raise their game and Williams expertly slipped his marker and the home keeper to slot in his first.
Central were to be pushed back more and more. Evans and Moore combined well on the left, to snuff out any progress by Central, often setting up forward play.
Okehampton were rewarded when Williams scored again then set up Evans for a coolly taken equaliser. Williams and Sercombe missed opportunities to increase the score but given their unaccustomed roles, did well in the creation of chances.
Hearts were to be almost broken when Vincent broke through Okehampton's defence to stab the ball past Carter for Central's winner. Wills, who had been superb in winning the man of the match award, had the option of pulling him down but the lad's sense of fair-play prevailed.
The sides meet again in the East Devon Minor Cup, later in the season, with Okehampton more confident of beating their city opponents.
This week Okehampton travel to Witheycombe to play Brixington in yet another difficult match. Players to meet at 9am at the college gates.
