THE annual Albaston Fete will be offering an abundance of music and stalls next month.

Now in its 26th year, the fete has raised more than £53,000 during its time. Among the beneficiaries are local schools, scout groups and cricket clubs, Children's Hospice South West, the Primrose Appeal and Talking Books for the Blind.

This year the beneficiaries will be Harrowbarrow and Metherell Pre-school Playgroup, Callington Community Gospel Choir, Albaston Knit and Natter Group, Plymouth Hospital Radio, Gunnislake Christmas Lights and Gunnislake Cricket Club.

There will be many stalls and activities at the fete and a wide range of refreshments.

Music will be provided by the Lady Margaret Fairground Organ, Taiko Drummers and the Rubber Band.

The fete will be held on June 18 at 2pm on the Millennium Green. Applications to be a beneficiary are invited in January each year.

In the week before the fete there will be a number of evening activities, including a quiz on Monday June 13 at the Queen's Head, a treasure hunt on Tuesday June 14, and a darts competition on Wednesday evening June 15 also at the Queen's Head.

The annual Relay Race will take place on Friday June 17 — a road race starting and finishing outside the Queen's Head. Open to teams of five runners, each lap is two miles. Categories include adults, fancy dress and under 12s.

Anyone interested in taking part in the relay race can download application forms from the website http://www.albastonfete.co.uk">www.albastonfete.co.uk or contact Mike James on 01822 833987.

Before and during the fete tickets will be available for a draw on Sunday June 19 either at the Queen's Head or from committee members. The first prize is £200.
