BARNFEST, the brainchild of organiser Ivan Judd, is a one-night charity music festival for West Devon charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids). The festival will feature three local music bands — Yorkie, the Dave Seccombe Band and Jenny and her guitar. Ivan has organised a number of events in aid of CHICKS, a charity that provides breaks in Devon and Cornwall for disadvantaged children from across the UK. Through the selling of T-cup candles, a total of £150 was collected, and £730 was made for CHICKS at a blind auction which was held at the village fete Luckett Duck Day. Ivan said: 'Barn Fest on August 9 is where we aim to raise an awful lot more, so please do come along and support CHICKS, listen to some fab music, and enjoy some tasty food and drink. 'In September I am undertaking a trek over three days to the highest point in Morocco, the High Atlas mountain range, and its highest peak Jebel Toubkal at 4,167 metres.' Barnfest will be held at Deer Park Farm, Luckett, on Saturday, August 9, starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £6.50 from Ivan and are available by calling him on 01579 370083.
