AS THE festive season approaches, members of St Paul?s Church in Gulworthy are preparing for an event with a difference. They hope visitors will rediscover the traditional magic of the Christmas message through their displays at the event ?Festival of Christmas Trees?. It will be similar to a flower festival but this time the church will be filled with 20 lighted Christmas trees, each decorated to portray a different carol by local community groups and church members. These will include the pre-school group and all three classes of Gulworthy School, along with the parish council, the parish hall, the WI and Tavistock Church Youth Group. On Friday, December 16 there will be a celebration evening starting at 7pm for viewing the lighted trees, with live music, carol singing and refreshments. Tickets for this event will be £5 for adults with children going free. St Paul?s Church will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm for viewing the trees by daylight, refreshments are available. The finale will be the carol service at 6.30pm on Sunday. Visitors are assured of a warm Gulworthy welcome.
