HUNDREDS of West Devon residents and visitors to the borough have been out and about sampling the goodies on offer in this year's West Devon Food Heaven Fortnight, leading up to the Tavistock Food and Drink festival this weekend.

During the fortnight West Devon mayor Cllr Terry Pearce took time out from his busy schedule to sample the sheep's cheeses on offer at Country Cheeses in Tavistock.

The Peter Tavy Flower Festival was one of the highlights of the two weeks, as were the cooking demonstrations at Okehampton Farmers' Market last Saturday.

There are just a few days left to pick up some of the special offers from food producers and suppliers participating in Food Heaven Fortnight.

For information, pick up a leaflet from the borough council's office in Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, the Customer Services Centre in St James Street, Okehampton, or in either of the Tourist Information Centres in Tavistock and Okehampton.

Alternatively, log onto the West Devon website, http://www.westdevon.gov.uk">www.westdevon.gov.uk for more information on the event which finishes on Sunday July 27.
