Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.

I WAS true to my word and finished the cross-country season in my Tavistock vest. With the blue skies and rising temperatures it's certainly time for the track season to begin, I just hope this weather continues.

I may have got a little too excited at the first glimpse of sunshine when visiting the beach at Portreath after my race. I think it's criminal not to go for a "swim" when at the seaside, so it had to be done. As the bikini hasn't been dug out from the depths of the attic yet this year, I was left with no choice but to strip down to my running shorts and crop top; probably more appropriate as it was quite literally a sprint in - one submersion and a sprint straight out. It was certainly refreshing!

A few other sports are nearing the end of their season, but don't worry I'm not going to dwell on the weekends rugby results. Yes, the Irish were dominating again but it was certainly a more jovial atmosphere at National Hunt Racings Cheltenham Festival last week, of which I was lucky enough to attend. Then again I might have had on slightly rose tinted glasses, especially by the end of the day when heading home better off! This was partly due to sheer luck at the bookies, and then secured by lack of time to visit the alluring tented shopping village. Therefore when shopping in Bath the next day the dress I purchased was free, surely?
