Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.
I can't believe it but two weeks on and I'm still stuck in my Ugg boots.
I was forced to enjoy a relaxed Saturday night in on my unusually free weekend, but hopefully this will have been to my advantage in the long term. I did however manage to get in a quality run session by running hard uphill and hobbling back down. I then made the mistake of meeting friends for a leisurely cycle straight after. I forgot there is no such thing as 'leisurely' when riding the Dartmoor hills around Widecombe!
To compensate for my lack of partying I've been having alternative nights out. Wednesday was Homebase; Thursday Ikea and Friday night I plucked up the courage to visit four stores at Cribbs Causeway on the way home. Apparently people do actually dress up for a night in Ikea, but I was disappointed not to see evidence of this. Before you start to worry, I am still trying to furnish my flat. Having already found a few lovely antique pieces I loathe purchasing any flat pack cardboard furniture but unfortunately due to my budget and time limit I might have to succumb.
After an engagement comes the wedding planning. This includes dress shopping, which unsurprisingly I found great fun. After helping my sister into several gorgeous gowns it was my turn, but tempting as it was I did manage to stick to just the bridesmaids dresses! I'm struggling to contain my excitement already, only another eight months to wait!
