THERE is an opportunity to turn back time, have a great night out and raise money for a good cause at a special event being held in Tavistock shortly.

The medieval banquet, to be held in the town hall, is being organised to raise funds for the church of St Michael de Rupe — more commonly known as Brentor Church — the tower of which is in need of repair.

There will be historic feasting, fun and frolics, with music being provided by Geoff Lakeman, Rosie and Rob Fierek with Rubber Band and Martin and Shan Graebe.

Rosemary Whitehouse, one of the organisers, said: 'Other entertainment will include a hawk display, readings and songs and many and various tempting treats to take us all back to a far distant time.

'We have lured the local very talented and imaginative chef Jane Osbourne to provide the feast, the menu of which we are having fun working on.

'We hope the people in and around Tavistock will support the event as I think many people have a fond regard for Brentor Church.'

The banquet, on October 8, will begin with a mulled wine reception at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale at £45 each.
