THE A30 was partially closed on Sunday afternoon after two separate collisions within an hour of each other resulted in one fatality and two people seriously injured.
Around 2.40pm a motorcyclist and a pillion passenger were involved in a collision near Stowford.
There was one confirmed fatality and the other person suffered serious injuries.
The A30 was closed while crash investigators examined the scene, leading to long delays for motorists.
Earlier, at 2.09pm a motorcyclist collided with the central reservation on the A30 Exeter-bound carriageway near to the junction with the A38.
The male rider, who was on a yellow Triumph Daytona motorbike, was seriously injured and was taken to hospital.
