STAFF and pupils at Tavistock Primary School received a welcome boost to their coffers from a tasty source recently, when a local fast food restaurant chose the school as its charity of the year.
McDonald?s in Tavistock have spent the past twelve months undertaking various fundraising activities, bringing in a total of £1,081.
McDonald?s manager Chris Lloyd-Greame said: ?We were really pleased to hand the cheque over ? it?s been a great fundraising year.
?We have staged all sorts of fundraising events from bungee jumping to car washes, baths of baked beans to selling biscuits and badges ? it?s been a lot of fun.?
Almost £400 of the total came from one intrepid McDonald?s employee, Debbie Cook, who raised the money through a sponsored bungee jump at the Leg O? Mutton in Yelverton.
Joe Flynn, headteacher of Tavistock Primary School, said: ?We are very grateful to all the MacDonald?s staff ? and especially Debbie ? for the amount they raised.
?We were thrilled to be chosen as McDonald?s charity and we plan to put the money towards specialist equipment for special needs children, particularly in the nursery.?
The school plans to use the money to boost its mobility section and to provide complementary equipment for its already well established outdoor play facilities.
