A FASHION show at Mole Avon and a sponsored swim at Parklands have raised a combined £8,000 for Hospiscare. The Okehampton Mole Avon store held fashion shows for three nights in May, with staff, friends and family taking part. There was also a grand prize draw and entertainment throughout the evening. The events raised £6,500 for the charity. Gillian Curtis' sponsored swim at Parklands Leisure Centre on April 6 raised £1,520.25 for the charity. Gillian swam 100 lengths of the pool in support of Hospiscare and Devon Air Ambulance Trust, raising a magnificent £3,040.50 to be split between the two charities. The events are part of the Mole Avon Ruby Appeal launched last year. It is hoped the events will help Mole Avon reach its target of £40,000 for the charity. So far they have raised over 90% of their target. Gillian expressed thanks to Parklands Leisure Centre for their support with free swim time and training, and to her swim coach Mike Reynolds. Everyone at Mole Avon expressed thanks to Gillian, everyone who supported their fashion shows, and Will's Taxi, who kindly provided a free taxi service on the nights of the shows.
