GERALD Williamson will give an illustrated talk at Brentor Village Hall about his personal collection of immaculately restored horse drawn carriages.

The collection, dating from 1873 to 1943, is made up of two and four wheeled private and trade vehicles — carriages such as the Irish jaunting car often used as a taxi in Ireland and the Bournville village horse-drawn baker's van.

The Williamsons are also the proud owners of two of Tavistock's original horse drawn buses. One was for ferrying people to and from the station and on tours across Dartmoor right up until 1930. The other, named Penny's bus, was used to bring people to market from Cornwall.

The talk, with slides, is on Tuesday, May 11 at 7.30pm, and tickets, £7, are available at the door. Further information from Sheila Downs 01822 820382
