TAVISTOCK'S regular farmers' market kicks-off this Saturday in Bedford Square with a wide variety of fare.

There will be meat, flowers, vegetables, cakes, cider and much more available from the newly-purchased red, yellow and blue stalls.

Following the success of the pilot last July, organised by West Devon Environmental Network, the Tavistock Farmer's Market Association was formed.

Pat Mayston, from WestDEN, said great efforts had been made over the past year to get funding to buy stalls and a trailer to transport them. With WestDEN's support, finance and donations were obtained from the Key Fund, West Devon Borough Council, the town council and other businesses in Tavistock.

'The pilot market survey predicted that this new market is likely to be a benefit to the town, other traders and shopkeepers and local farmers and producers — not to mention the general public. Hopefully, it will become part of the future fabric of the town,' said Mrs Mayston.
