TWENTY-seven firefighters tackled a blaze at a farm workshop in the Rising Sun area on Friday, which is being treated as arson.

The fire service received a call at around 9.45pm and crews from Callington and Saltash attended.

On arrival firefighters found a single storey workshop of 30 metres by 10 metres well alight and requested further assistance. Two appliances were despatched from Saltash and Bere Alston with a water carrier from Liskeard also being requested. Two wholetime officers were also at the scene.

Crews used two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus and were at the scene for three hours.

They were unable to save any of the building which was completely destroyed. A fire investigation team visited the site the following day.
