THE owner of Edgemoor Nursery School and Day-Care Centre has retired from the school she founded in 1992. Staff and children gave Hilary Woollard a send off with gifts, including a photographic collage of the children and staff, an engraved clock, and a bouquet of flowers. Many of the children presented her with individual cards and gifts they had made. Miss Woollard paid tribute to the team of staff who had worked with her over the past 14 years and how privileged she felt that so many parents and carers had allowed her to help shape the future of the children. She started her business in Yelverton after spotting there were no facilities in the area where parents could obtain full-time quality care for babies and toddlers. In 1995 Miss Woollard was voted runner-up in the local Business Women of the Year competition. As Miss Woollard was reluctant to let the business go onto the market, she offered the ownership to the staff of Edgemoor, and Karan Horsley became the new owner.
