CHILDREN in Tavistock went all out to help a school in Ghana recently with a day of dressing up.
Tavistock Community Primary School held a 'dress up as what you want to be when you grow up' day in aid of the Neville Maggs Preparatory School project in Ghana.
Neville Maggs, an ex-pupil of Tavistock Primary between 1947 and 1952, wrote to the school asking for help in raising funds to build a new school in Kumasi, as the old school frequently flooded with open drains and was in very poor condition.
The Tavistock pupils raised £140 on the day by dressing up with great costumes, including firemen, doctors, pop stars and even mad scientists.
The staff at the school also joined in by dressing in school uniform for the day.
The school council is now busy planning further fund raising events for the future.
