A FAMILY plumbing firm from South Zeal are hoping to raise £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care, to show their appreciation for the support they received from the charity.

Martin and Rebecca Watts, owners of Yourplumber Devon, will donate £5 from every plumbing, drainage or heating job that Martin completes. The couple hope to raise £1,000 by Christmas, but say they will keep going until they hit their target.

They came up with the idea following Rebecca's diagnosis with breast cancer in August, when she found the charity's support invaluable: 'The care and support I received from the NHS has been incredible. However, there is also a need for a source of information to answer the myriad of questions you have when faced with the unknown. Breast Cancer Care offer this, as well as a strong support network.'

The couple have two children, who attend South Tawton Primary, and Martin says the charity helped the whole family: 'Nobody knows what it's like for the sufferer, going through chemotherapy and operations, and at the same time it can be a scary time for the family.

'We all benefited so much from the support and reassurance the charity gave us, and wanted to find a way to thank them for their amazing work.'
