A CALLINGTON grandfather, who got into the saddle for the Prostate Cancer Charity in September with his daughter, son, daughter-in-law and five grandchildren for a unique cycling event, has raised more than £650.
Peter Moss, a retired Barclays Bank operations manager, together with his daughter Louise, son Richard, daughter-in-law Laura and grandchildren, Charlotte, Cameron, Hollie, Aidan and Lillian have raised more than £1,700 in total, after tackling the charity's London Tour Ride.
The ride offered people the unique opportunity to warm up the tarmac for the professionals in the Tour of Britain, who rode the exact same 12km route later that day.
Peter, Louise and Richard also completed a 107-kilometre ride in the New Forest to attract more donations.
Furthermore, the money raised will be matched pound for pound, up to £750, as part of the Barclays Community Investment 'Charity begins at Work' Programme, bringing the total to more than £2,300.
Peter was inspired to take on the cycling challenge in support of the charity after being diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer following a routine health check by his doctor.
David Bond community relations officer for Barclays said: 'At Barclays we strive to strengthen local communities in which we live and work by supporting a range of causes.
'This is a fantastic example of a retired member of Barclays staff fundraising with his local community to achieve something which we hope will make a real and lasting difference.'
