A TELEGRAPH from the queen was received by Metherell couple Ruby and Stuart Ditcher as they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage with a lunchtime buffet at Tavistock Golf Club with friends and family.
The couple lived in Tavistock for about 30 years before moving to Metherell a few years ago. Stuart worked as a civil servant while Ruby worked as a secretary for the social services and both are still involved with various organisations in Tavistock — including the Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs and are active members of Tavistock Parish Church.
The couple have two children, Gill and Nicholas, and two grand-daughters Lisa and Holly.
Mr and Mrs Ditcher's daughter Gill Cummings said: 'They had a great day and were delighted to get a telegraph from the Queen. One of the bridesmaids from their wedding was at the party and even the Mayor of Tavistock popped in. They really enjoyed themselves.'
