WHEN their favourite story book is dropped one night causing all the pages to fall out and become mixed up, four young girls find themselves propelled into a world of fairy tale characters, in need of help to sort out the ensuing muddle. So begins this year?s Courtenay Players pantomime to be presented at the Charter Hall, Okehampton, from February 21 to 26, nightly at 7.30pm. The pantomime is based on an entirely new story entitled ?A Fairy Dream? written by the Player?s president Roger Partridge ? he has written many of the group?s past pantomimes, including ?Sweet Dreams? and ?Mary Mustard?s Marvelous Magic Spring?. ?A Fairy Dream? includes all the much-loved characters: a male dame, a female principal boy, a beautiful princess and a wicked baddie. Following the story book mix-up, all the characters find themselves in the wrong place or unsure of who they are and what they should be doing, including the pantomime cow and the fearsome giant. To incorporate a cast of almost 60 players, many of the other familiar fairy tale and nursery rhyme favourites also make an appearance. With foot-tapping songs, vibrant costumes and scenery and plenty of opportunities for audience participation, it promises to be a wonderful evening of family entertainment. Tickets go on sale from February 7 onwards and can be obtained from the Fairplace Church 50/50 shop in the arcade priced at £7.50 each to include refreshments or a family ticket for two adults and two children priced at £20. There is also a 10% discount on the ticket price for a block booking of ten seats or more.
