A COMMUNITY fair organised by the borough council and the police is due to take place in Bere Alston this month.

The event takes place at the village primary school's gymnasium on Tuesday February 24 between 3pm and 4.30pm, when a number of agencies and organisations, including Job Centre Plus, the Citizens' Advice Bureau, West Devon Homes and the NHS Primary Care Trust will be offering help and advice. High on the list will be how to cope with the current economic challenges.

Stars of the fair will be several emergency vehicles, which will be on display for all to have a close-up look at the real thing.

There will be something for everyone, with activities and competitions as well as refreshments.

Borough ward member Cllr Christine Grills said: 'This will be a great opportunity for residents on the Bere Peninsula to access many of the local service providers at what promises to be a real community occasion.

Cllr Robin Musgrave, who also represents the ward, said: 'West Devon Connect inspired the idea of bringing public services out into the community on a regular basis, working with other public bodies to deal with issues and concerns of local people.

'The community fair will be a great opportunity to meet and talk to the local police, West Devon Borough Council and many other agencies who provide local services.'
