AT WINKLEIGH Fair Committee's annual meeting the chairman reported another successful year despite the effects of foot and mouth disease.

The £2,000 raised has been split between three causes — £500 to the St John Ambulance, £750 to the Winkleigh Senior Citizens' Club for their Christmas party and £750 set aside for a street party to be held to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

The officers of the Winkleigh Fair Committee remain unchanged with Andrew Ware, chairman; Nicki Bullen, secretary; Julie Mitchell, treasurer, and Marcia Butt, cup secretary.

Events already planned for the coming year are a fireworks display in conjunction with Winkleigh Primary School on November 2, a quiz night on November 17 and a Christmas concert with Crediton Town Band on December 8.
