SOUTH West based members of the national children's heart charity Little Hearts Matter were recently treated to a special day of fun at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre near Lifton, courtesy of one of its oldest child members.

Little Hearts Matter offers supports and information to children and their families born with non-correctable and complex heart conditions — basically half a functioning heart.

The event, which was sponsored by local solar PV and wind turbine specialists Peninsula Renewable Energy, was organised by 15 year old Evie Fairman from Cornwall, who herself suffers with a particularly complex heart condition.

Evie said: 'When you are daily faced with living with such a serious health problem, it's very hard to cope alone. It's especially hard for us as children but I also know it's tough on parents too.

'I wanted to give families like my own the chance to get together with other families faced with the same issues, to be able to discuss and share their thoughts and worries, and more importantly, have some fun together.'

Families from all over Devon and Cornwall were invited to attend the day at the unique fairground museum and were able to experience all the fun of the fair.
