OKEHAMPTON'S Fairtrade Group will celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight on Saturday, February 28 with a Fairtrade fair and coffee morning.

The Fairtrade Fortnight initiative runs nationally from February 23 to March 8, promoting the values and benefits of Fairtrade produce. The fair on Saturday will celebrate those values with a Fairtrade stall and the Just Living stall, which also sells Fairtrade produce.

Kate Thompson, a member of the Okehampton Fairtrade Group, said: 'We want trade to be fair for everyone. This is not just an issue affecting developing countries. Our Fairtrade fairs and events are proving really popular, and we hope people come along to support it this time.'

There will be a 'bake-off' style competition, where competitors can bring in a cake to the hall at 9.30am for judging. Each entry must contain at least two products which are either Fairtrade or sourced locally.

Okehampton College students are baking cakes using Fairtrade produce to be sold at the fair as part of a cookery project.

Visitors can also enjoy coffee and take part in a raffle.

The event runs from 9.30am to noon at All Saints Church Hall on Market Street.

All are welcome.
