Tavistock Town U16s 0 Saltash Youth U16s 0 THIS game was not entertaining and physical but evenly matched. Saltash had more opportunities but had lost their scoring touch. The Tavistock defence, led by an in-form Simon Kelly, had to work hard to clear their lines. There was an anxious moment when Webber, the Tavistock goalkeeper, was taken out completely by a reckless follow-through, but after treatment he was able to carry on. The second half play was an improvement and Derbyshire, who was in midfield, headed just over the bar from a Doyle corner. Jim Wellard, who played well in his first game for Tavistock, came closest to scoring when his header scraped past the post, also from a corner. It was apparent to all that extra time was beckoning with penalties being the probable decider. There was no way the light would hold for the 30 minutes necessary to play extra time. The referee made a phone call to a DJM official and the result was that the game would have to be replayed again. St Jude?s Utd 1 Tavistock Town U14s 0 AFTER a four-week lay-off Tavistock returned to action and promptly lost their unbeaten record. In a dour first half Tavistock rarely put a string of two or three passes together. Good moves and good football were a rarity. St Judes scored from an unlucky rebound to lead at half time. The second half saw man of the match Jack Jessop trying to inspire his team, but Tavistock never threatened the St Judes keeper apart from a late Jamie Doyle strike. The one bright spot for Tavistock was the return to action after a long injury lay-off for defender Ben Pridham.
