TEN good causes from the Drewsteignton area have benefitted from the success of popular Teignton Fayre held last month.

Teignton Fayre, the Drewsteignton village fayre ? normally held on the first Saturday in June ? is a special day in the parish.

Last Wednesday, July 30, organisers presented cheques to a number of good causes in the village and surrounding areas of Whiddon Down, Cheriton Bishop and Chagford.

Ten good causes, including local churches, playing fields, schools and pre-school groups shared in the £3,100 profit made from activities this year.

Paul Bartlett, of the Drewsteignton playing fields committee, one of the groups to benefit from the charity donations, said: ?This money from Teignton Fayre will enable us to improve the safety features around the toddlers swings, providing greater confidence to all parents that their children are in a safe environment.?

The committee would like to thank all the supporters who contributed to the success of the fayre.
