OKEHAMPTON Community Recreation Association has been busy organising a FA level one football coaching course in Okehampton and it has a few places left.

OCRA are keen to develop training in Okehampton for local coaches from a wide variety of sports based clubs and associations. At present many of the level one coaching courses and the follow up level two —  which are available in a wide variety of sports are great — but are a long distance for coaches/parents or teachers to travel.

OCRA has negotiated with the Devon FA to bring the level one course in coaching to Okehampton. This course has been specifically designed by the FA to assist people over the age of 16 to gain the knowledge to enable them to deliver safe, ethical and effective football coaching sessions for grass roots players aged 7 to 16 years.

Sue Doidge, the activity co-ordinator for OCRA, said: 'It is seen very much as a stepping stone to working with a junior club and an excellent introduction to coaching.

'The course contains comprehensive resource packs to cover both the main course and the child protection workshop.'

The course starts on Monday November 15 and comprises of four evenings 6.30pm-9.30pm and two all day Saturdays with the final assessment on Saturday November 27.

All details plus booking form is available from the OCRA website http://www.ocrasport.org.uk or">www.ocrasport.org.uk or contact Sue Doidge at OCRA on 01837 54546.
