FARMERS and landowners looking at diversification projects can get some expert advice on obtaining planning consent and grant funding at a special workshop in Okehampton later this month. With farming going through its most significant period of change for several decades, few farmers can ignore the need to consider the future development of their business. However, obtaining planning consent for the conversion of existing buildings or putting up new buildings to house the diversified business can often be seen as a barrier by many farmers. Agri BIP, in partnership with West Devon Borough Council and DEFRA?s Regional Development Service, are offering farmers and landowners a chance to get the very latest information on planning consent and grant funding for diversifying schemes. An evening workshop will give farmers and landowners a chance to hear how the planning system works, how best to go about gaining planning consent and whether their new venture may be eligible for grant funding. The event takes place on Wednesday September 21 at the Okement Centre in Okehampton at 7.30pm. For details and to book a place contact Agri BIP on 0800 592 872.
