Devon & Exeter Senior 1
North Tawton 1st 2
Beer Albion 1
FOLLOWING last week's 2-1 victory over Exmouth Amateurs in the senior cup and a great triumph the previous week over a Buckland Athletic side who had not lost for 18 months, this was another hard game for North Tawton.
The first half saw good work by Darren Nichols, beating the Beer midfield, which allowed Edward Hillier to curl the ball towards the top corner and for the Beer keeper to make a fantastic save.
Soon after, due to some sloppy defensive play, Beer took the lead.
A last ditch Steve Ward tackle before half-time stopped it from becoming 2-0.
After the break, Ashley Arscott supplied a great cross to Keith Steward, only to see his header flash over the crossbar.
Another drive from 35 yards out by Hillier had the Beer keeper scrambling back to his goal, only to see the ball glance the wrong side of the crossbar.
Keith Steward was in the thick of things when he was brought down in the box for a penalty to be given. Ian King converted the spot-kick.
Nichols played a lovely ball to King who got the Beer defence to allow Pigeon to slot home the winner.
l North Tawton Seconds had a 2-0 victory over Axmouth away in Intermediate 4, thanks to goals by Dean Rice and Martin Quick.
