LEWDOWN Cricket Club have acquired the services of Peter Lever, the ex-England fast bowler and England bowling coach for their adult coaching sessions to be held on Wednesday evenings from 6.30am at the Recreation Field, Lewdown. Peter Lever, who has recently moved to the area, has an impeccable record of both playing and coaching and Lewdown are very excited to welcome him to the club. Club captain Charlie Hughes said: 'Peter has a very distinguished career with both Lancashire and England and having him at Lewdown is a really exciting prospect. I am sure we can all learn a lot. If he can get the best out of the likes of Cork, Gough and Atherton, I am sure he will be able to do something with us lot.' Lewdown coaching sessions for adults will now be on Wednesday evenings, a change to past sessions, with youth coaching moving to Fridays where Peter Lever may also be involved alongside the overseas coach and qualified coaches – a further attraction for new players. Any players in the U15 age group are also invited to adult coaching with the U15s now playing in the Palladium league. Lewdown have also received confirmation of their bar licence, and a new bar has recently been installed, serving members beer, wine and soft drinks. With the new coaching structure sure to be a big improvement, Lewdown welcome all players old and new, of varying abilities from the age of eight upwards to training sessions and matches, and if you would like further information contact Charlie on 07747 841617 or 01566 783565.
