THE dynamic young Dante Quartet will give the last concert in this year?s Kelly College Concert Society series next Wednesday, March 19.

According to one contemporary British composer, the string quartet plays ?some of the most exciting chamber music I have ever heard?.

The quartet was founded in 1995 on friendships made at the International Musicians Seminar in Cornwall and will establish its own festival at Lezant this year.

It plays throughout the UK and Europe, has taught at Dartington International Summer School and also devised a chamber music programme for schools. One of its CDs won a 2002 gramophone award.

The Dante Quartet?s players are Krysia Osostowicz and Matthew Truscott, violins, Judith Busbridge, viola and Pierre Doumenge, cello. The music on Wednesday will be Mozart?s Dissonance Quartet K465, Rubbra?s Fourth String Quartet and Debussy?s String Quartet.

The concert, sponsored by the Foster Trust, begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall at Kelly College, Tavistock.

Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18s accompanied by an adult are free.
