BRIDESTOWE Garden Club held its second annual garden show recently in the Methodist Hall. There were 49 entries ? up on last year. The turnout was good and the standard excellent. Judges Brian Wonnacott and Pat Andrews were impressed with the standard of exhibits. They praised all the entrants for their hard work and effort to produce an excellent show. The show committee was also pleased with the entries from a membership of only 36 members. The show was accompanied by an excellent talk and demonstration given by Alan French on ?Winter Tubs?. He brought along lots of plants and gave plenty of ideas for winter planting, from shade garden to frost resistant plants. He astounded members with his demonstration of a spring pot of bulbs by showing them how to plant more than 80 bulbs in one pot for a spectacular display in spring and into summer. Non-members are always welcome at the meetings, the next one is on Thursday October 13 in the Methodist Hall starting at 7.30pm. The subject is ?Gardening Today? given by David Loder of Chulmleigh.
