ILFRACOMBE had plenty of chances, but Okehampton?s goalkeeper Will Ingram made some excellent saves. Defenders Tom Battishall and Jack Stanbury battled well to keep the ball out.

Ilfracombe?s goal in the 29th minutes seemed a lucky break for them. In the second half, though, Ilfracombe were the stronger side. They came out fighting and scored their second goal.

Okehampton?s defenders did as much as they could with Timothy Doidge and Simon Fellows putting loads of effort in, but Ilfracombe came out on top scoring a goal in the 58th minute and another three soon after.

OKEHAMPTON U11s began their first match of the new season with a promising start. They controlled the match during the first half only allowing SAS Barnstaple a brief spell of play.

Okehampton continued to pressure the SAS Barnstaple goalmouth with shots from Matthew Doidge, Corey Burns and Harry Smith.

Just before half-time Corey Burns followed up a save from the SAS goalkeeper which rebounded into Corey?s path and he shot the ball into the net. Okehampton came out for the 2nd half determined to add to their goal tally for the afternoon.

A lovely cross from Matthew Doidge and a superb shot from Corey Burns almost resulted in Okehampton?s second goal but the SAS Barnstaple goalkeeper made a crucial save. Okehampton did not have to wait long as Luke Alden scored with a well timed run from the middle of the field and a lovely strike racing over the line leaving the SAS Barnstaple goalkeeper with no chance.

SAS Barnstaple began to step up their game and despite some scarey moments for the Okehampton defence they held firm until a defensive error led to the only goal of the afternoon for SAS Barnstaple.

A free kick taken by Luke Alden resulted in a corner to Okehampton as the SAS Barnstaple goalkeeper could only turn the free kick over the crossbar.

Matthew Doidge took the corner and Luke Alden scored his second goal of the match.

Okehampton could have scored more with Thomas Boother coming the closest to adding to their tally. Man of the Match was jointly shared between Harry Smith/Thomas Boother. Next match Okehampton Under 11?s are away at Barnstaple Youth.
