PARENTS of children at Tavistock Community Primary School recently celebrated the completion of an intensive 12-week course entitled The Incredible Years.
Liz Adams, Vanessa Blackmore, Marea Boylin, Fiona McLure and Jo Stanton were presented with certificates by Anthony Wates and Wendy Bloom, representatives of the Mary Budding Trust, which funded the materials for the course.
The Incredible Years, designed by Carolyn Webster-Stratton, clinical psychologist at the University of Washington, is based on her 25 years of research with more than 3000 families.
The course gives parents practical help on how to support their children's social, emotional and academic growth. Course leaders, Celestine Boyle and Teresa Molesworth, use group discussion, videotape modelling and role play to assist parents of children aged three to eight.
The next course starts on Wednesday January 7 at Tavistock Primary School — anyone interested should contact the school on 01822 616044 or call in at the school office.
