THE Garden House at Buckland Monachorum is opening its gates early so visitors can enjoy the spring flowers. The mild winter has already produced an extraordinary display of snowdrops, and flowers are still blooming, despite the recent snow and ice. Head gardener Matt Bishop said the snowdrops and camellias were out in January and hundreds of people attended the special study days set up in February to look at the early bulbs. This is the first year they had opened in February, and this will be a feature in coming years. ?Next year we plan to have events for snowdrops and early bulbs in January and early February for booked groups,? Matt said. The Garden House will be open every day from March 1 to October 1, 10am to 5pm. This season sees the launch of a passport scheme, where visitors can save money on return visits until they qualify for a final visit entirely free.
