BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) hosted their first running event at the weekend. The summer fun run and was a way of encouraging youngsters to put on their trainers and do some activity whilst raising money for charity. There were a total of 74 runners ranging from babies upwards. All of the youngsters did very well and deserved their medal and goodie bag for running on such a warm day. The last race of the day went to the dads where the level of competitiveness was raised, Simon Wakeham came a well deserved first with David Pike a close second followed by Chris Allan in third. There was a tie for fourth with John Overnell and Adam Smith battling for position with a very impressive sprint finish! Well done to everybody who took part and helped us raise money for South West Childrens Hospice.
