OKEHAMPTON charity 'Devon Aid Korogwe' (DAK) is planning an evening of elegance, good food, and music at the lovely Buckland House, Buckland Filleigh, on Wednesday April 18, at 7pm. Following many requests from those who attended last year's performance, the charity has invited back Roger and Christine Cleverdon, who will be joining Brian Abell and Friends to sing excerpts from various works by Gilbert and Sullivan. There will be a hot supper, and the charity is inviting men to wear a black tie if they wish, and ladies have the opportunity to dress up for the evening. The charity's tenth annual 'Wine and Wisdom' quiz evening, compered by David Arney, was well attended earlier this year and made a profit of £850. Richard Verschoyle's was the winning team for the second year in succession. Following an invitation to give a presentation to Chagford Over 60s, telling them about DAK and its Tanzanian village water projects, the group also recently held a coffee morning in Endecott House, where a further £270 was raised to go towards a well for another African village. It is anticipated that there will be a high demand for seats at the musical evening, so early booking is recommended.
