SOUTH West Conservative Euro MP Giles Chichester will visit the Centre for Adolescent Rehabilitation at Burdon Grange, Highampton, tomorrow (Friday) to meet chief executive Lt Col Trevor Philpott.

The main source of funding for the centre has, over the past four years, been an EU grant of £2-million. Recently, the centre has begun to develop links with similar organisations in EU member states.

Following participation at European Offender Employment Conferences, it has joined up with young offender institutions in Germany, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia to form the SVET Group.

They will be seeking Mr Chichester?s advice on a joint bid for EU funding to facilitate staff exchanges to share good practice.

The SVET title for the group is achieved by combining the first letters of their key objectives: support, vocational employment training. Coincidentally, it is also a Slovenian word for ?The World?.
