If ever there was a case for ?After the Lord Mayor?s Show? then this was it as Tavistock were unrecognisable from the team that beat Ifracombe 7-2 in the FA Vase last Saturday.

The euphoria of that victory was soon vanquished as Town scored twice in the opening 10 minutes to leave the Lambs staggering.

Darren Burchell fired their first, after just five minutes, direct from a 20 yard free-kick before Carlton Farnham raced down the right before cutting the ball back for Steve Rowson to fire home from close range.

The nearest Tavistock came to replying was when Pete Southcott had a goalbound drive blocked before the Peppermints practically ended the game as a contest six minutes before the break.

A mix-up in the Tavistock defence saw Rowson have his shot blocked by Andy Meeds but the ball broke kindly for the onrushhing Johnny Ludlam to sweep home.

With the game won the visiting team more or less shut in the second half but it was from a long clearance that Farnham raced into the area to shoot low past Meeds.
