A REMARKABLE 700 year-old document is the subject of a newly published paper by Tavistock historian Tom Greeves.
The essay deals with Dartmoor tinners, recorded on the earliest tin coinage roll which dates back to 1302 and is steeped in Dartmoor references ranging from Brimpts to Yardworthy.
The study is included in the latest volume of the Devonshire Association?s Transactions which also contains an interesting piece by Christopher Holdsworth exploring the founding of Tavistock Abbey.
Christopher Wakeham?s treatise on the Maristow Estate farmhouses makes further fascinating reading, being a pioneering analysis of 19th century rural architecture in Devon.
