A WATER sports enthusiast has joined the outdoor activity team at Wellard and Scott in Broadwoodwidger. Tom Hatwell, 24, recently joined the team based near Roadford Reservoir, and brought with him a wealth of experience in the many aspects of outdoor adventure. Wellard and Scott is an active outdoor business which focuses on fly fishing tuition, kayaking lessons, and selling products including kayaks, camping and fishing equipment. Tom grew up in the area and developed a love for the great outdoors. He trained as an adventurous activity instructor at Duchy College ? specialising in all aspects of kayaking and white water sports. In 2005 Tom travelled extensively and paddled some of the great rivers of the world including the Zambezi and worked as a white water river guide whilst filming the first DVD guide to the rivers of the Southern French Alps. Tom has worked as a kayak coach for eight years and as a level four coach, he holds the five star highest personal skill award. Tom said he hoped to bring his skills and local knowledge to the new ventures at Wellard and Scott, and is looking forward to advising and teaching people in the sport he loves.
