MEAVY garden society summer show is taking place this weekend and is offering competitions for flower and vegetable growers.

The competitions will be for cut flowers, shrubs, pot plants, flower arrangements, herbs and vegetables.

The show offers each visitor the opportunity to become a judge of flowers and plants at the show on Saturday August 8. All visitors will receive a voting slip to select their personal choice of best entry in each of the 16 classes.

To encourage members to enter more exhibits, the Gordon Cross Trophy will be awarded to the person with the most highly placed exhibits in the whole show.

Refreshments will be available, plants from local gardens on sale and there will be a raffle at 4.15 pm.

The show takes place at Meavy Parish Hall and starts at 1 pm. Entry price is £1 per adult.
