THE clock is ticking down towards Tavistock Food Festival and there are plenty of extra events being planned for the big event, in conjunction with Children's Hospice South West. In addition to the wide range of stalls, cookery demonstrations and tastings, there is a special 'kitchen tip' competition — simply write down your favourite nifty kitchen tip and hand it in to the chef's marquee on either the Saturday or Sunday. The event, which costs £5 per head, includes a demonstration by Masterchef Peter Gorton and music by singer/songwriter Rosa Rebecka and Cheryl Stead. Bring your own picnic — chairs and tables will be provided. Proceeds from the supper are for the hospice, tickets are available from 01837 52365 or on the Children's Hospice South West website, http://www.chsw.org.uk">www.chsw.org.uk On the Sunday, there is a competition to find the tastiest Victoria sandwich. Entry costs £1 — the judging takes place in the afternoon so all entries should be received by noon and there will be prizes for the winners.
