DESPITE the threat of showers, the annual bonfire and fireworks party at Mount House School attracted a huge crowd of pupils, parents and past parents of the school as well as many visitors who stayed on to watch the event after the school's open evening.

The Friends of Mount House provided a hog roast and hot dogs and mulled wine was available for the adults.

Guests of honour for the evening's festivities were the Mayor of Tavistock councillor Philip Sanders and the mayoress Dr Hilary Sanders.

Continuing a long-standing Mount House tradition, the bonfire was lit after the firework display by the youngest pupil in the main school, Emily Crighton.
