DENNIS and Chris Ingram from Boasley celebrated Dennis' recent 80th birthday with a twist — his birthday party was full of gambling!

The party was to help raise funds for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund, and instead of presents Dennis asked guests to partake in an afternoon of roulette and lunch. A fine total of £154 was raised, and ELF expressed thanks to Dennis and Chris.

ELF have two more fundraising events to help fill the coffers, the first a clay pigeon shoot on June 25, held at Burden Farm, Okehampton. All are welcome — for further information call 01837 871799.

The second is the ELF Fun Dog Show on Saturday July 16, also at Burden Farm.

The day starts with dog jumping at 11am, entries from 10am. There are three age classes for people showing their dogs, and the return of the jumping challenge, where fences are raised to 2ft 3in. New for this year is the pairs relay race.

At 1pm, the family fun dog show begins. There are 16 classes with three new classes — best trick, friendliest dog and most unenthusiastic dog! Winners receive a photograph portrait taken by Farlap Photography. For information call 01837 871799 or 07970 540167.
